MONTRI SRIYONG

Ketika kami berada di Incheon Air Port kerana akan berangkat pulang ke tanah air masing-masing, Montri Sriyong dari Thailand berbisik kepada saya, "I hate kimchi!". "But you like soju!", kata saya. Dia tersenyum.

Montri adalah penerima SEA Write pada tahun 2007. Berasal dari Hadyai dan katanya dia membuka warung menjual 'chao kue teow' yang diwarisi daripada datuknya lagi. Sebuah puisi Montri yang berjudul:

Amorous mist embraces the flowers in a field?

Whose blosom shines the diamond dews

Started the drizzling,

Dance with us until dusk, Darling

To fear the dusk with your beauty

Tonight will be cold and lonely

Pondering the fairy flowers and thinks

The rough refinement, Mother Nature brings

To enjoys beauties of misty weather

And the blossoming of blooming flowers

To listen to the song of flowery rains

Dreamy flowers bloom everywhere

In the darkest field in the world of pain!
